Led by the Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage, Pierre Dimba, Côte d'Ivoire took part in the 79th World Health Assembly. During this major health event, Professor Mamadou Samba, also Full Professor of Public Health and health economist, won the prestigious vice-presidency of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO). This election has considerable strategic significance. 

The WHO Executive Board, composed of 34 technically qualified members elected for a three-year term, is the body responsible for implementing the decisions of the World Health Assembly, preparing its agenda and guiding global health policies. By acceding to his vice-presidency, Professor Samba acquired a direct platform to influence major global health projects (management of epidemic emergencies, antimicrobial resistance or even universal health coverage). the international health scene. This international recognition comes at a time when Abidjan is consolidating its ambitions in terms of global health governance.
