Located on the Abidjan-Agboville axis, the Akoupé-Zeudji PK24 industrial zone (ZI) is today at the heart of the Ivorian industrial development strategy. Supported by the government as part of the National Development Program (PND), it responds to a dual challenge, namely to decongest the historic industrial zones of Abidjan, notably those of Vridi and Yopougon, and to offer a modern framework to investors. Spanning several hundred hectares, the site has been developed according to international standards. Structured roads, reinforced water and electricity networks, environmental management systems, everything has been designed to guarantee optimal functioning of industrial activities. This rigorous planning makes it possible to attract companies from various sectors, ranging from agro-industry to logistics, including manufacturing transformation.
A boost for the Ivorian economy
Beyond infrastructure, Akoupé‑Zeudji PK24 stands out for its strong economic vocation. Ivory Coast, the world's leading producer of cocoa and a major player in cashew nuts, has been seeking for several years to increase the local processing of its raw materials. This industrial zone thus offers a space conducive to the creation of added value on the national territory, reducing dependence on exports of raw products. Social impact also constitutes a central pillar of the project. Ultimately, several thousand direct and indirect jobs are expected, contributing to the professional integration of young people and the revitalization of surrounding communities. Already, the gradual establishment of businesses is generating increased local economic activity, with knock-on effects on services, trade and social infrastructure.
A model for the sub-region
Strategically, Akoupé-Zeudji PK24 strengthens the position of Ivory Coast as an industrial hub in West Africa. Its proximity to Abidjan, the economic capital and main port of the sub-region, constitutes a major asset for international investors. It facilitates supply chains and reduces logistics costs, two essential factors in a context of increased regional competition. Furthermore, the Ivorian authorities highlight an increasingly favorable business environment, marked by administrative and tax reforms intended to encourage private investment. The industrial zone is fully part of this dynamic, offering a secure and structured framework, capable of hosting large-scale projects. Also, the emphasis placed on sustainability demonstrates a desire to place industrial development in a responsible perspective. Waste management, resource preservation and integrated urban planning help to make Akoupé-Zeudji PK24 a model of a modern industrial zone, aligned with contemporary environmental requirements.
In short, Akoupé-Zeudji PK24 is not only an industrial extension, it embodies a vision dear to the authorities. That of an Ivory Coast that transforms locally, creates jobs and establishes itself as a major industrial player in West Africa. To date, the area has already allocated 284 hectares, divided into 367 lots, to 173 companies, 67 of which are operational. Ultimately, more than 12,000 jobs should be created.
