UNDP and AfDB join forces for Africa

Ahunna Eziakonwa, Regional Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for Africa, spoke with Dr Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group. The two leaders explored ways of strategic rapprochement between their respective institutions, in the face of the considerable challenges of financing African development. The meeting highlighted a common conviction, that of combining the expertise of the UNDP in governance, youth employment and human development with the financial capacity of the AfDB could significantly accelerate the economic transformation of the continent. This synergy would aim to more quickly transform political commitments into tangible results for the populations. In a context where millions of young Africans are awaiting professional integration and where infrastructure needs remain immense, cooperation between large institutions appears to be a necessity. In Côte d'Ivoire as in other countries on the continent, the challenge now consists of translating these institutional intentions into concrete projects, capable of sustainably improving the living conditions of local populations.
