Listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the Ningbo company Gaofa Automotive Control System has confirmed its intention to establish a 100% subsidiary in Morocco, called Gaofa Automotive Control System Morocco Co., Ltd. Specializing in gearbox control systems, electronic accelerator pedals and automotive cables, Ningbo Gaofa is already a supplier to Renault and Stellantis, two manufacturers which both have assembly units in Morocco.
The investment planned for this production unit amounts to 20 million dollars, entirely financed with equity. The choice of Morocco is not the result of chance. The Kingdom exported $14.1 billion worth of automotive products in 2024 and aims for a production capacity of one million vehicles. Its advantageous taxation, its competitive salary costs and its geographical proximity to Europe make it an ideal platform for serving the markets of the old continent and the rest of Africa. This positioning is attracting more and more Chinese investors, in a context of Sino-Moroccan bilateral relations strengthened by a strategic partnership signed for several years now.
Note that the establishment of Ningbo Gaofa is part of a broader dynamic. The Shereefian Kingdom is now seen in Beijing as a source of international growth, where other equipment manufacturers are still hesitant to take the plunge outside of Asia.
