The ballet of the leaders of the French maritime giant in Abidjan does not weaken. After the visit of Executive Vice-President Ramon Fernandez in 2024, then that of global CEO Rodolphe Saade last April, it is the turn of the Regional General Director of the CMA CGM group, Alae Rahmounede, to cross the threshold of the General Directorate of the Autonomous Port of Abidjan (PAA), confirming the intensity of the relations between the shipowner and the Ivorian port authority

This new meeting is part of the continuity of a dynamic initiated several years ago between CMA CGM and the PAA. In April 2026, on the occasion of the inauguration of the group's Africa regional headquarters in Abidjan, Rodolphe Saade reaffirmed his company's desire to strengthen its investments in maritime transport and logistics in Ivory Coast. This regional office now manages the group's activities in West, East and Southern Africa, making Abidjan a strategic anchor point for the French shipowner. 

On the operational level, CMA CGM also deployed last May the container ship ZEPHYR, with a capacity of 15,000 TEU, for its first call at the Port of Abidjan, illustrating the rise in the reception capacities of the Ivorian port platform.

The hearing between the PAA and CMA CGM thus confirms the shared ambition to make the Port a major logistics hub in West Africa.
