In order to immerse himself in the mechanisms that have enabled Morocco to develop integrated and highly competitive industrial platforms, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, Kalil Konaté, visited the Shereef kingdom at the beginning of May. First stage of the mission, the CIMAF integrated industrial complex, located in Ben Ahmed, in the province of Settat, south of Casablanca. This site illustrates a logic of advanced vertical integration, combining limestone quarry, clinker production unit and modern cement manufacturing facilities.
After CIMAF, the Ivorian delegation visited the Tanger Med complex, considered one of the most efficient port, industrial and logistics platforms in the world. With an annual traffic estimated at around 11 million containers and connected to more than 180 ports in nearly 70 countries, Tanger Med has established itself as the leading port in Africa and the Mediterranean. Its free and industrial zones, covering more than 3,000 hectares, are home to nearly 1,500 companies in sectors as varied as automobiles, aeronautics and agro-industry, having generated more than 145,000 jobs. The visit to the KOSTAL Maroc factory, specializing in automobile components, particularly caught the attention of the delegation. The factory, established on 42 hectares since 2016, exports 95% of its production to major global automobile brands, concretely illustrating the impact of the Moroccan model.
Also, it is important to specify that these visits are part of the dynamic of growing power of SOGEDI, a public structure responsible for the management of industrial zones Ivorian companies, which has been the subject of increased ministerial attention since the start of 2026. For Ivorian industry, drawing inspiration from the Moroccan model (based on integration, competitiveness and attractiveness of investments) opens a credible path towards the structuring of real industrial ecosystems capable of supporting the economic transformation of the country.
