Environmental management plays a vital role for a country. And Ivory Coast has understood this very well. Indeed, it has equipped the Félix Houphouët-Boigny University of Cocody with cutting-edge scientific equipment worth more than 110 million. Presented to Professor Abdoulaye Sangaré, Vice-President of the University in charge of research and technological innovation, the equipment includes data loggers, ultrasonic wind direction and speed sensors, digital soil temperature and humidity sensors, as well as rain gauges.
These precision measuring instruments will allow the University to collect reliable and continuous data on meteorological and environmental parameters. According to Minister Abou Bamba, these tools aim to improve monitoring of air quality in order to better anticipate the effects of climate change. Remember that this donation is part of the WACA Program, a World Bank initiative launched to improve the management of coastal erosion and flooding risks in West Africa, by combining capacity building and sustainable investments.
With this donation, the Félix Houphouët-Boigny University is positioning itself more as a scientific hub of reference in the regional response to emergencies climate.
