Sustainable cocoa: Abidjan and Berlin strengthen agricultural ties

The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Production, Bruno Nabagné Koné, recently received in audience Matthias Veltin, German Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire. At the center of discussions, the promotion of sustainable cocoa and agricultural development in the northern regions of the country, areas with high productive potential that are still insufficiently developed. During this interview, the German diplomat took the opportunity to officially invite the Minister to participate in the German Agricultural Show, which is scheduled to take place in January 2027. A global showcase for agricultural innovations, this show represents a strategic opportunity for Côte d'Ivoire to promote its sectors and attract technical and financial partnerships. Thus, the Minister agreed in principle to this invitation, while welcoming the quality of bilateral relations between Abidjan and Berlin. This meeting confirms Germany's growing interest in the Ivorian agricultural sector, the world's leading cocoa producer. It is part of a dynamic of South-North cooperation focused on the sustainability and structural transformation of Ivorian agriculture.
